Satyanarayana Puja is a Hindu ritual dedicated to Lord Vishnu, in the form of Lord Satyanarayana. This puja is performed to seek the blessings of Lord Satyanarayana for good fortune, prosperity, and overall well-being. Where can this pooja be performed:

The pooja is generally performed to invoke the lord Satyanarayana and seek his blessings. This pooja is performed at temples during Pournami, festivals and on special occasions.

Ekadashis and Thursdays are also considered auspicious to perform this pooja.

At home satyanarayana pooja can also be performed during Grahapravesha, pournamis, any functions like birthdays, naming ceremonies, 60th birthday, get togethers and others.

Preparation for pooja :

The place where the pooja is going to be held must be cleaned. A small stage has to be set up by placing a wooden stool or a plank, spread a clean white
cloth over it.

Now the image of the lord Satyanarayana has to placed on the top of it. Decorate the image of the lord with fragrant flowers and garland.

Apply turmeric, kumkum , sandalwood paste to the image of the lord.

How to perform Satyanarayana Puja: vidhi

Start with the Ganesh Puja and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
Lord Satyanarayana is invoked by chanting the mantras.
The abhishekam to the lord is made by using water, tender coconut, panchamrutham, sandalwood water and other holy things.
The Deity is then decorated with flowers turmeric, kumkum and sandalwood.
The Satyanarayana Katha - the divine stories related to the deity is then narrated that has to be listened by the devotees
The neivaithiya prasadam is offered to the deity and Aarthi is performed.
The devotees take the aarthi prasad and seek the blessings of the lord. The neivaithiya prasadam is distributed among the devotees.
